Why did this adult kick scooters win the first place?
I am very happy with the purchase. It is definitely worth its money. The product is top-notch! The material is stylish, but it smells for the first couple of days. I don’t know anything about other models from this brand, but I am fully satisfied with this product. I really enjoy the design. It is compact, comfortable and reliable. And it looks amazing!
Why did this adult kick scooters come in second place?
I recommend you to consider buying this model, it definitely worth its money. This is a pretty decent product that perfectly fitted the interior of our office. Seems that the material is good. It has a very beautiful color but I don’t really like the texture. I really liked it. It is amazing in every aspect. It did even exceed my expectations for a bit, considering the affordable price.
№3 – Razor A5 Lux Scooter
Why did this adult kick scooters take third place?
I hope that the good reputation of the manufacturer will guarantee a long-term work. I liked the design. We’ve been using it for 2 months and it still looks like brand new. It doesn’t squeaks nor bents. Looks great in my apartment. This price is appropriate since the product is very well built.
adult kick scooters Buyer’s Guide
Newbies and those on a shoe-string budget. The Razor is the classic first-time scooter.
The Micro is probably the speediest kick scooter I have ridden, and one of the lightest too. It can be found in an elegant white and blue paint job, or a striking black one with orange highlights. For the non-thrill seekers out there, this might be a bit too speedy, though.
Speed demons and people looking for the lightest, most compact package.
This is one of the most popular electric scooters in the whole world. This environment-friendly scooter is suitable for short distance communication. This is designed for the teen and adults. The super-quiet chain driven motor can run continuously for 40 minutes without needing another recharge. The front and rear tires are wider and they allow you to run at up to 1miles per hour speed. The wide tires also provide strong grips to the surface and it reduces the chances of slipping or skidding. This electric scooter comes with a 12V sealed acid batteries. It features a hand-operated back brake and extra-large deck for enhanced stability.
This electric scooter can carry a rider of up to 220 pounds. This is particularly suitable for teenagers. If you are adult weighing below this limit, you can also ride very smoothly. The handlebar mechanism allows you to fold the handle so that you can carry and store it easily. This is a really great electric scooter for short distance touring, such as for going schools, for visiting neighbors. This versatile electric scooter offers you the best value for the price.
If you ask for the drawbacks, there are not many major issues. One customer has complained that if the power is left on, the battery continues to drain. Another issue is the battery compartment is almost ground-touching. So it is sometimes difficult to ride. Other than these, there are not any issues. The second problem can be easily solved with some extra physical effort. Overall the construction and the performance are great. This is why Razor E300 is one of the best scooters for adults and teenagers.
The Razor E200
The E200 from Razor is a great little scooter and basically where the adult range begins. Its biggest problem is basically the E300, which is better or the same on every count and priced far too closely for comfort. I’m not even going into too much detail here – if you’re in the market for a scooter like this, check out the current price for the E300. If the price difference is less than fifty bucks get the E300. Especially if you weigh more than the 150 pounds the E200 supports.
The Razor E300S
I don’t know what to tell you, it’s an E300 with a seat stuck onto it. If you like the E300 but would rather sit down, then buy this scooter instead. Interestingly, the quoted charge time for the E300S is four hours shorter than the E300 while the run time is five minutes longer, which points to a better battery system. Still, the seat really is the deciding factor. They are both priced pretty much the same as well.
The Razor RX200
Unlike the E200, there’s actually a point to the existence of the RX200. With a maximum weight capacity of 15pounds the RX200 just barely ekes into the adult scooter category. The big difference comes from the numerous modifications Razor has made to the E200, which makes the RX200 ready for offroad riding right out of the box.
Obviously this includes offroad tires, but most importantly the gearing ratio has been changed to deliver more torque rather than simply speed. Otherwise, the RX200 looks very much the same as the E200. It takes 1hours to charge the battery, it tops out at 1miles per hour, and is otherwise at the entry level. It makes a lot of sense as an impulse buy for having some light fun in the dirt, just keep that very low weight limit in mind.
The Uberscoot 1000W
The Uberscoot 1000W matches the BLACKSUP almost beat for beat. It’s slightly cheaper but provides just about the same features and performance figures. One thing that’s a glaring difference between the two is that the Uberscoot doesn’t seem to have a clear upgrade path to change it according to your needs. It may very well be that these kits are available, but they aren’t being advertised as clearly.
The EcoReco M5
The EcoReco Mcontinues the Fuzion V-1000’s tradition of supremely well-made kick-style scooters that are just too expensive. Dropping an amount well south of a grand on a scooter like this just seems insane.
This is a bit like those gourmet hamburgers aimed at millionaires. It’s still just a hamburger, but every ingredient is rare or endangered. The Mlooks like it was developed for military use. Mean looking, black, and heavy. It’s a good looking, genuinely well-designed machine that you would have to be insane to buy unless your name is Richie Rich.
Made to last, the KickPed Adult Kick Scooter is built with a high-tensile steel frame to withstand vibrations for a comfortable ride and can support up to 300 lbs (13kg). Plus, it features a sleek and narrow deck made of marine grade plywood.
The Urban 7XL Kick Scooter for Adults has built-in double suspension that gives a smooth ride when you’re going over bumps or uneven pavements. If you’re looking for the occasional ride and want a slightly better kick scooter than the basic models, the Urban 7XL is one of the best mid-range option available.
A popular choice for those who want to upgrade from their manual kick scooters and kick into high gear. The EcoReco Mis equipped with a 250 watt motor and double suspension to soften bumps and make your ride a smoother and faster one.
Inokim Quick-Myway Electric Scooter
The Inokim Quick is immaculately-designed, sought-after and an overall high performance electric scooter. It has a nice torque to climb slopes and is capable of supporting weights up to 26pounds with it’s sturdy deck and body.

This Silver & Red snow scooter constantly appears in the best snow scooter reviews and comparisons. It’s very popular with kids, both girls, and boys, and is said to be one of the most versatile. The unit features quickly-adjust handlebar that allows you to select the best height.
The folding natures improved storage and carrying whereas the patented skis improve performance. The safety leash improves security while the Sure-Stop brake improves the stopping ability. It comes with a practical and convenient 15-inch deck and the handlebar’s height can be changed from 2up to 30 inches.
What to Look For in a Scooter
Just like when you are purchasing any big ticket item, there are several key features that you need to keep in mind when you are looking for the best kick scooter for adults. Your needs will definitely differ from a child’s, especially since you probably won’t be doing and cool tricks but rather using your scooter for an economical form of transport around town.
Lots of the scooters on the market today are geared towards younger riders. As an adult, you’ll have to make sure that you get a scooter that can handle your weight without breaking down. Now, obviously, if you are on the lighter side you might still be able to get a scooter that is designed for children or teens, but for the rest of us, the higher the weight limit, the better.
Razor ALux Scooter
If you are looking for a great option for the best adult kick scooter, you won’t do much better than this one! It has extra large wheels for added durability and stability, which are both essentials for an older rider. The adjustable handlebars are a really nice touch as well, as they can easily accommodate a wide range of rider heights.
Razor AKick Scooter
If you were to close your eyes and imagine a scooter, odds are you’d come up with something close to this one. It is extremely lightweight, yet durable enough to handle the weight of an adult with ease.
While this scooter would be able to serve an adult as well as a younger rider, the wheels might be a bit of a problem for the long distances and heavy use that an adult might subject it too. Aside from that, however, this is a solid and no frills option for a grown up to save a bit of gas money and get some exercise at the same time.

Grip tape is used f or security measures to make sure the rider does not slip his feet.
As the manufacturing of a stunt scooter has to be more powerful, it will be bulkier too. This brings about not great for gripping around if your kid has had scooting enough. Most stunt kid usually scooters bodyweight between 3.and 4.5kg. Obviously less heavy stunt kid scooters will be simpler for youngsters to control and use. However, less heavy but sturdy stunt kid scooters usually cost more.
This is another great factor that you should consider before you purchase a stunt scooter. Are you an experienced rider or just a beginner? For instance, if you are planning to use your scooter when going to school or hopping on and off curbs, you do not need something so expensive. You can buy a stunt scooter that is slightly above your riding level to give room for progression.
Height And Weight
Gone are the days when scooters were only designed for kids. Today they are designed with a relatively larger deck and strong reinforcements to accommodate teens and adults. Do not just pick your scooter without considering the weight and the weight.
Most of the scooters available can accommodate between 50kgs-100kgs user weight. If you are buying a scooter for younger riders, it is great if you go for the basic models designed with aluminum and have shorter bar height and they are also lightweight. These scooters are comfortable to ride, and they provide young riders with maximum portability.
Most of the stunt scooters are designed with a fixed handlebar height so you might require cutting the height to come up with a more adjustable height for comfortable riding.
The one piece handlebar makes the scooters durable and very strong for using at the skate parks. You need to ensure that you buy a scooter with the right fixed height like nearest to mid torso is perfect.
Do not purchase a stunt scooter without considering the wheels. Stunt scooters should have very strong alloy wheels with a diameter of 100mm to 125mm. They also have better cartridge bearing and better sealing to provide a smooth and faster rolling. Alloy scooter wheels are not only durable, but they also look great.
Consider The Age Of The Rider
Different types of scooters are designed for younger kids below eight years. If your child is below eight years, they need supervision when riding scooters. Don’t allow them out on their own until they are over eight years. Once they are confident enough to ride on their own and they can ride safely, you can allow them to ride with other kids outdoors.
If you want to ride your scooter safely, be sure to check the condition of the weather. Do not ride your scooter through water because it will destroy your wheels in the long run. Be sure to check substances like sand and bumps which will affect your speed when you are riding. Do not ride your scooter through traffic.
Once you buy your first stunt scooter, you might be tempted to do different stunts right from day one. Do not be in a hurry to try different moves. First, practice well then you will become perfect. Start small and with time, you will gain confidence and knowledge on how to ride your scooter and pull out some of the coolest moves.
Stunt Scooter Riding Tips
You have heard your mates talking about scooters, and now you have decided to try stunt scooter too. Before you begin riding, you need to know some important riding tips that will help you achieve smooth and comfortable rides all the time.
You need to pull up the handlebars then do the same with your feet. Your wheels will then leave the ground, and you will jump with your scooter.
This is an easy trick any rider can do. Just jump off the deck and leave your wheels on the ground.
This requires you to do the bunny hop then twist your handlebars to 90 degrees then straighten them before landing.
This is a simple trick where you lean back on your back wheel and then ride around.
This is a trick that can be difficult for beginners. You need to hold down your brakes and then hop back on your back wheel.
This is simple, and you need to do the Ollie first and then turn your deck 90 degrees and then land on the rail.
The Razor E300 electric scooter sports a pretty basic build that requires some assembly. The main deck and the steering column come detached, but it’s enough to connect them with a simple hex wrench.
The handlebar is pretty ergonomic, and the great thing is that it folds easily which makes for convenient storage. Cable wires for the brake and accelerator hang freely from the handlebars and connect to the motor underneath the deck which can be a problem when they become loose over time.
The frame is built using solid tubular steel which gives the scooter a durable and dependable feel. The deck is broad enough to incorporate both children and adults and contains a non-slip material which provides extra friction during the ride.
The E300 does not have any real suspension, but the two 10-inch pneumatic tires provide good support and shock absorption even over small bumps and slightly rugged terrain. As for maximum rider weight, the E300 can comfortably support up to 220 lbs in weight which is perfect for most adult riders.
Chain drive mechanism can be noisy
Performance & Battery Life
One of the greatest features of the Glion Dolly e- scooter apart from its ultra portability is its 36v Sony Lithium Ion battery which is quick to charge taking only 3.hours to achieve a full charge and hours to achieve a 75% charge.
The Dolly delivers an easy 1miles of range on a full charge and comes with a portable charger that is small enough to carry on you in case you need to charge on the go.
Now, while this top folding electric scooter has no real suspension built into it, its wide 8-inch honeycomb pneumatic tires provide good support over tiny cracks, small holes and some rugged unevenness on the road. However, the scooter does tend to clatter while riding over rough patches, but for the most part remains pretty stable. The electric brake inside the rear motor (250W, 600W peak power) works quite well and brings the scooter to an almost instantaneous halt when you engage it (via the throttle on the left handle bar), although having an additional front break would’ve sealed the deal for us. The Dolly is quick but not as quick as advertised. During our test runs, we were able to clock a maximum speed of 14.mph, but we’ve ridden faster scooters. The other issue we faced was regarding the responsiveness of the throttle which requires the rider to grip on tight to maintain their speed. This can be a wee bit annoying on longer commutes but works just fine for shorter 1-mile commutes to and from public transport or the office. The Dolly has a bright headlight in front that works and a rear tail light reflector, so you can comfortably ride at night, however, we’d suggest avoiding streets without lighting.
Lightweight at only 2lbs
Also, its handlebars are also foldable, but unlike the handles on the Glen Dolly, the M5’s handles are much sturdier as well as wide enough to accommodate riders with larger frames. While the Mcan’t stand vertically, it features a nifty kick stand at the rear that holds it up just fine when you park it.
Unlike most scooters in the range, the EcoReco Mcomes with dual suspension, in the front and at the back which does provide greater stability during the ride. The tires on the Mare smaller than most (5-inches), but their solid rubber build delivers good cushioning and also ensures that they never go flat.
Overall the build is pretty solid, and the Meven comes with some pretty cool accessories, which include a carry bag with wheels and a cargo trailer that attaches to the rear wheel so you can tug groceries or other small items home with you if you have to.
Performance & Battery Life
The Mperforms remarkably well and does so in relative silence. It is powered by a 250-watt motor gearless, direct drive motor that is capable of 750W peak power output, which is more than sufficient for a compact personal mobility device.
It includes a 36v Lithium-ion battery which weighs roughly pounds and takes approximately 4.hours to charge. Although the Mcomes ready-to-go with a 50% charge, we recommend charging it fully before you venture off on your first commute to get the benefit of the full 10+ mile range.
One of the cool things we like about the Mis that it takes a little pushing to power it on. This is a built-in safety feature which ensures that the scooter doesn’t power on with an accidental or unintended push of the power button.
As for the layout on the handle bar, things seem pretty simple and straightforward. The right bar has a variable speed throttle for acceleration and the left bar has a lever which engages a drum/band brake connected to the rear wheel.
The variable throttle is attached to the display computer which shows the speed, trip distance, battery level, and the number of charge cycles exhausted. The only issue we found with the display was its downward angle which makes it hard to read while riding, but with some adjustment you can get it to face up or you can simply stop when you wish to check the battery level.
During our test rides, we took the Mover patches of bumps and cracks as well as over grassy patches, but it was able to maintain speed and deliver good stability owing to its dual suspension. Braking is efficient as well, but in our opinion having a brake up front would provide even greater assurance in emergencies. At any rate, as a last mile solution, the Mis the closest we’ve come to riding a near perfect e-scooter owing to its high-quality performance and versatile features..
Fold down foot pegs for a pillion rider
This RX200 is powered by a 200-watt chain driven motor which has been engineered with a new gear ratio to deliver higher torque for the off-road terrain.
Additionally, the rear hub is designed to include a sprocket drive train with the free wheel which allows the scooter to operate freely like a bicycle. Similar to the E200, the RX has a variable speed throttle allowing riders to regulate their speed as they navigate the off-road terrain. Also, similar to the E200 is the two 12v lead acid battery system that is capable of delivering up to 300 charges. Owing to its lead acid nature, the battery can take up to 1hrs to charge and provides roughly 40 minutes of run time. Amazingly the RX200 is capable of drifting on the dirt. All the components and upgrades on this scooter come together beautifully to deliver top class off-road maneuverability that is unmatched in the price range.
Frame can support up to 160 lbs making ideal for older kids and young teens between the ages of 7-1years.
Durable and Solid construction
Over and above a solid and ergonomic frame, this Pulse electric scooter comes with Push-to go start, wide deck and thumb level throttle making it the perfect transition electric scooter for your kids.
As a kid that is used to riding a kick scooter, transitioning to an electric scooter that is capable of reaching speeds up to mph can be a little daunting and intimidating. Pulse understands this, which is why they have designed a scooter that offers a similar braking mechanism and starting mechanism so that your kid doesn’t feel like he/she is stepping onto unfamiliar ground.
The 80 watt motor and 12v rechargeable battery that powers this top electric scooters for kids deliver up to mph speeds and a total run time up to 50 minutes. Also, the battery is easily rechargeable and only takes a few hours to complete charging.
The thumb level throttle on the high rise bars makes steering this scooter convenient and fun. It is specifically meant for kids who are not perfect in riding. Also, the deck provides extra stability due to the in-traction molding which further enhances the comfort of the ride.
Before the electronic action takes over, the rider has to push using his or her feet much like on a kick scooter, but once the power kicks in, riding is effortless and extremely enjoyable.
While the design on most motorized scooters doesn’t vary much, there are certain key electric scooter parts which can make your riding experience a lot more convenient and enjoyable.
Gear Levers – These come in two varieties: the thumb lever and the regular bike lever. Depending on your experience and comfort level you can choose either one. However, we did find the thumb lever to be more comfortable to use, given the smaller girth of the handlebars on most motorized scooters.
The Deck – The length of the deck on e-scooters can vary depending on the type of the scooter (i.e. for kids or adults). Scooters for kids usually have smaller decks while electric scooters for adults have slightly larger and heftier decks. Besides deck length, the height of the deck can also prove to be an important consideration, especially if your scooter runs out of juice. A deck that is closer to the ground makes it easier to kick and use your feet when the batteries die.
Lights – Look for built-in headlight and tail lights if you plan on riding your scooter back from work in the evening or late at night. In case your scooter doesn’t come with headlights/taillights, take your scooter to the local mechanic, because adding lights, especially on foldable handle bars could pose a problem.
The motor is what drives the motorized scooter. Depending on their quality, and intended use, electric scooters sport motors of varying power. Most kid’s scooters will have motors of up to 350 watts which offer decent acceleration, and lower average speeds.
More powerful 500 watt motors deliver greater acceleration, speed as well as the ability to climb gentle slopes in the road. If you want an e-scooter that is capable of superior speeds and can comfortably climb steep slopes, make sure it is powered by a 750 watt motor or better still a 1000 watt power for maximum output.
The batteries on most motorized scooters are lead-acid batteries, which are the oldest type of rechargeable battery. Although heavier and bulkier than the Lithium-ion batteries used to power most hoverboards, the lead acid battery costs much less in comparison, which is why motorized scooters cost less than other electric mobility devices.
This amount of run time is considerably subpar for a technologically sound and effective means of transport and does require improvement. Having said that, there are a couple of companies that offer lithium battery packs for their scooters, so if you want to enjoy longer travel times, it is wise to invest some more Benjamins for an enjoyable ride.
In some cases, having this type of front brake can prove to be more effective than a disc brake on the rear wheel, since jamming the back brake can cause the scooter to slide out of control.
Wheels and Suspension
At their most rudimentary design, scooters share the same suspension as most skateboards and longboards, i.e. none. Scooters with no suspension usually have small rubber wheels, weigh much less than their counterparts and are okay to ride on flat surfaces.
However, if you want to ride in the real world as well as have the option to maneuver across all kinds of terrain without hassle, you’re going to need suspension. The best suspension for electric scooters comes in the form of shock and coil springs.
Look for suspension in the front as well as at the back for an incredibly smooth and comfortable ride. As for tires your best off getting a scooter with pneumatic tires, which are made from rubber and filled with compressed air. These provide good shock absorption and traction for a fun and controlled ride.
Most scooters deliver relatively high speeds that are good enough to take the bike lane or ride on the footpath. If you’re looking for exceptional speeds such as more than 30-40mph, you should consider a scooter with a powerful motor upwards of 750 watts. Remember, that higher speeds and extra watts place a greater demand on the battery, so make sure that chart your route before you leave to avoid running out of juice.
Computer & Accessories
While the lower level scooters offer simple battery displays up top, the higher end models offer a computer which can display several important stats apart from battery life, such as mileage and speed.
In addition, some advanced computers also offer an option for cruise control. Besides the computer, you’re going to want some basic accessories, including a side stand for parking and maybe even trolly handle like the one rolling suitcases to roll your scooter around when you get tired of carrying it. Also, consider purchasing a carry bag in case you want to keep your ride under wraps and away from prying eyes.
Razor Jr. Lil Kick Scooter-Pink

Here is where you can get more details on the scooter’s capability and functionality. Detail review in the previous section of this article.
There is a lot of advantage to buying a foldable scooter for kids in this age. However, a lot will depend on personal preference. Foldable scooter tends to be easy to carry.
After the kid has finished riding the scooter, all you need is to fold it and carry with ease. However, foldable scooter comes with its own limitation. One is that there are heavier and hard to control, making difficult for the kids to carry it and even have a fun riding.
Smooth and fast ride

They come with two footplates and all you need to do is to place your foot each of those plates. Then you will move the scooter with your leg in and out. This kind of scooter is best for kids that like to ride on a flat smooth surface.

There is a lot that goes on when it comes to choosing the wheel of the scooter. Wheels come in different diameters.
Wheel with a larger diameter of 120mm and beyond tend to provide the smooth faster ride. The rider tends to use less pressure when pushing the scooter forward.
Kids need to test-drive the scooter first

If you intend to buy the best electric scooter for commuting or you already have one, you need to ensure that you keep it in its best condition so that it can last longer and serve you better. Here are great tips on how to maintain your precious scooter.
Keep records: Before you engage in any maintenance procedure, you should consider taking record of your scooter. Records will help you to reconnect any part that you disconnect when carrying maintenance. The best way to take records is by taking pictures to view clearly how every part fixed before you disconnect it.
Battery maintenance: Always ensure that your batteries are well charged using an original charger that can be acquired from the manufacturer or an authorized dealer. Some scooters have a self-recharging battery, but up to a certain limit, therefore, you need to top up the charge. If your battery starts failing to hold a charge for long, you need to replace it.
Check chain tension: Always ensure that your scooter has the right chain tension. Riding your scooter with a loose belt will make it slip from the teeth and wear out. If you have to replace the belt, ensure that you have the right specifications and you have placed it in the right settings.
Regular oiling: Lubrication is a requirement for any machine that has moving parts including electric scooters. You should ensure that you clean and oil all moving parts of your scooter at least once per week.
Most scooters are made out of aluminum, although some use steel as well. Some cheaper scooters may be made out of plastic. Not all aluminum is equal, however, and some aluminum is stronger than other types, depending on how it is treated and forged.
The weight of a scooter isn’t going to be a big deal for everyone, but it should be proportionate to the size of the person using it. You don’t want younger children to have to worry about a heavy scooter because they might have a harder time controlling it. On the other hand, larger people may want a heavier scooter that bears their weight better. In many cases though, weight is simply a matter of preference.
Tips to Help You Choose the Right Scooter
Today’s market is absolutely flooded with a large variety of scooters to select from. They can be found in different styles, materials, price ranges and levels of quality. Choosing the right scooter for your child can be a daunting task as you attempt to find one that is safe, durable and affordable for you while still being something your child will be excited to have. That’s why we have put together the following list of tips to guide you in what to look for in choosing a scooter which is safe and will be fun for your child to use.
Kick scooters can be found with two, three, or four wheels. For older children and adults who have a good sense of balance, two wheels are just fine. Young kids who are still developing their sense of balance need the stability offered by either three or four wheels.
Both the size of the wheels and the material they are made from make a big difference when riding over the bumps on the sidewalk or path. A softer, more pliable material will provide much better shock absorption, as will a larger size wheel. Especially for young children, you will want the front wheel to be at least 100mm in size.
When choosing a scooter for your preschooler, you will want to take care to ensure the wheels have good quality bearings and roll smoothly. If they don’t, your child’s developing muscles will tire quickly and your child will lose interest in riding because it’s just no fun.
Hand grips typically come in either rubber or foam. There are a few differences between the two but as long as you are aware of the differences, it may just boil down to whichever material you prefer.
Rubber grips don’t soil as quickly or easily, and they are typically more durable than foam. Rubber grips generally wrap around and completely cover the ends of the handlebars, which eliminates the need for end plugs. With foam grips, the ends of the handlebars are usually plugged with plastic or metal which can scratch and develop burrs when coming into contact with the ground. These scratches and burrs can cause injuries to small hands.
With the information above, you should have the tools to find the perfect scooter for your child; one which both you and your child will love, being both safe and capable of providing hour after hour of fun.
This Knee Scooter is Perfect for Long Drive
Not only are the wheels much larger, but they are pneumatic as well. This means that they have even greater shock absorbing properties than traditional wheels. Even driving over a dirt road should give you no trouble at all. This scooter may not be ideal for all of you, but I know there are at least a few of you out there that have either a long drive way or maybe you have to take a few shortcuts in order to get into town. This scooter is perfect for that. It will let you confidently roam free off the beaten trail, without getting too much shock from an uneven terrain.
It is Designed for People Between 5’ and 6’ 5”
On the top of our list is a product from KneeRover. This is all around a great scooter for anyone to use. With its 7.5” durable non-marking wheels, it can be used both indoors and outdoors. The knee pad is an extra thick 3.5” inches and it is contoured for added comfort. For safety, these scooters come with an adjustable locking handbrake and rear disc brake. This allows them to be stopped very quickly when needed. Just like with the other scooters, the KneeRover can be folded for easy transport and storage.
The Emicro One is, according to the company, the “world’s most lightweight and compact electric scooter” with a weight of just 7.5kg, making it an ideal mode of transport for the morning commute (to the train station, anyway!).
It also features a motion control sensor unique to the Emicro One, which allows rider to start and control their speed by body movement. The company claims that the motion control technology also reduces the battery consumption, and allows the scooter to be used ‘cable free’.
In terms of battery life, it features a fast charging battery that charges from flat to full in only an hour, with each charge providing you with 12km of scooting enjoyment.
The Razor E100 is your basic entry level electric scooter for kids. Boasting a steel frame, the E100 can reach speeds of up to 10mph thanks to the electric motor, though it’s worth noting that riders will have to be travelling at 3mph before trying to use the electric motor, as it’s not powerful enough to move the scooter when stationary.
Riders will get around 40 minutes of continuous use before it requires a charge, although it’s not clear just how long the charging process will take.
Razor’s E300 electric scooter is a decent mid-range scooter, and is suitable for both kids and teenagers (possibly even big kids too, but we’ll let you decide that!). The E300 boasts a speed improvement over the E100, reaching speeds of up to 15mph while matching the 40 minutes of constant use that the E100 offers.
The E300 also features a ‘super size’ deck and frame, meaning the rider can stand firmly with both feet. It also features a twist throttle for finer control over speed, and a retractable kickstand so you don’t have to leave your scooter on its side when not in use.
The wider 25.4cm tyres should provide a comfortable and smooth ride, and the maximum weight limit for the E300 is 100kg.
Zinc Volt 120
The Zinc Volt 120 is another great electric scooter. It boasts top speeds of 12mph, and although we’re not quite sure how long/far you’ll get from a single charge, the scooter features a ‘fast’ recharge time.
That being said, the scooter requires a 12-hour initial charge when first purchased.
Like others in our roundup, the Zinc Volt 120 offers durable tyres ideal for use on uneven, bumpy surfaces.
Unlike other electric scooters, the Zinc Volt 120 offers push and go start-up. This means that you should be able to push off to gather a bit of speed, then let the electric motor do the rest of the work.
It has a slightly lower maximum weight than the Razor E300, at 70kg, meaning this is marketed towards children and young teenagers.
Schwinn Adult Shuffle Scooter with 26″ Wheels
If not for the obvious reason that our climate is heading in the wrong direction with all the carbon dioxide emissions from cars, factories, and even public transportation. Then there are a few other very good reasons to why you should already be utilizing the fantastic perks of an electric scooter.
Easy to operate. Learning to ride a scooter takes approximately minutes and is as simple as stepping up on the footpad and twisting the throttle.
Lightweight and portable. The total weight for these type of transportation vehicles comes in at around 2lbs, which means that you can easily take it with you anywhere.
Environmental-friendly side perk. Even if you aren’t an environmentally conscious person the side effect of you using an electric scooter for the fun of it is that you are still lowering your carbon footprint.
A much more enjoyable way of travel. An ideal and really fun way to get from point A to point B.
Available to all and without age limitation. Whether you’re a toddler, a kid, a teenager, or an adult there are electric scooters that will fit your needs, age, and weight.
No license required. You don’t need a drivers license to operate the scooter. Most scooters have a top speed below 20 mph. However, we recommend the use of proper safety gear such as a helmet which is required by law in some states.
Less maintenance needed. Apart from chain-saw oil for some motors and changing the tube on the inflatable tires or getting a new battery after a few years, there are little to no maintenance needed. But if needed the cost for spare parts are often very low. Especially compared to car parts.
Battery quality makes for safe riding. These scooters come with high capacity batteries that have long battery life and they are built of high-quality cells providing them a longer lifespan. Most scooters have UL certified chargers and batteries and safety is always a top priority for the brands. Many also possess extra safety features such as multiple circuit breakers, safety switches, and high-quality braking systems (both electrical and mechanical).
If you are looking for an economic and fun way of transportation, an electric scooter is a perfect choice for you. They are not only cost-effective in terms of maintenance and low cost per mile, but they are also kind to our environment. These battery-powered electric motor vehicles provide a smooth, comfortable and stress-free commuting solution at a fraction of the cost of a fuel powered vehicle. They cater to a wide range of users and are not only intended for adults. In fact, anyone can and should be using an electric scooter.
For parents, the big concern is often the safety aspect and many scooter brands have embraced this concern creating models with features such as speed limiting and kick to start making them perfectly safe to use for kids, toddlers and teenagers alike. While there is still a large range of electric scooters that cater to the needs of an adult.
Now that you’ve read our guides and know how they work you should have no problem finding the best electric scooter to suit your needs.
I’m always getting asked about the electric scooter laws UK. So here is everything I know about them, Please be aware I’m by no means an expert on the electric scooter laws here so this is my little disclaimer. This is just what I’ve found out so far.
Although there is an initial upfront investment cost to an electric scooter which kinda sucks, over the long term, your scooter more than pays for itself.
Within a few weeks, most people who have switched from a car for commuting to an electric scooter have found the scooter has already paid for itself in money saved.
Travelling with your charger is always a good idea in case you need to charge the scooter up whilst at work.
There are lots of people who use their scooters to get to the train on, when they will then get on, fold it, then unfold it and get off the train.
Please bear in mind that not all electric scooters are road legal. The 1000W 48V C931model by EVO is because of its added features like lights, mirrors and safety features.
Razor E100 Electric Scooter
This nifty little scooter will be a favorite toy of your child from day one. Known and loved by millions, Razor has become synonymous with scooters. In business for over a decade, this company is known worldwide. They stand behind their products…
OjO Commuter Scooter
An exclusive price tag is the only thing to worry about here. Once you’ve made the investment you can expect a manufacturing attention to detail so fine that the production manager has put his name on it. Underneath the hood, the latest technology available is put together in perfect harmony to deliver a heavy-hitting, market leader.
Hover-XLS Folding Electric Scooter
This scooter is unlike anything else on our list. The arrow shaped frame is made from aircraft grade aluminum which is powdered to protect the integrity of the metal and preserve the finish. It weighs just 50llbs but can support weights of up to 285llbs.
The Hover-xLS is a designed for adults. The chainless engine is efficient, producing a top speed of 20mph, by far the fastest on this list. Its engine is powered by a lithium ion, cylindrical battery that allows you to travel 2miles on just a single charge. When you do run out, its light enough to fold-up and carry under your arm.
Good brakes are a must on a vehicle that goes as fast as this. There are anti-locking disc brakes fitted on the front and rear wheels that prevent you from slipping out at high speeds. Those wheels are 10” which means this scooter is comfortable riding over divots, cracks or stones. It keeps you comfortable via a dual suspension system.
Razor RX200 Off-Road Scooter
The RX2000 uses two 12V batteries to power its engine. That´s twice as much torque as the e90. Acceleration is controlled by a twist throttle whilst disc brakes are fitted to the off-ride tires to ensure a responsive stopping system.
This scooter really goes as well. A top speed of 12mph on almost any surface with a run-time of about 40 minutes. The scooter is built from steel which is far more durable than aluminum or carbon fiber. It is, of course, heavier as well weighing a stunning 46.llbs.
Razor Pocket Mod Signature Euro Electric Scooter
I really like the look of this children´s mini-scooter from Razor. It´s available in a range of retro colors like mint-green, turquoise or pale pink with a cream leather seat which adds a real 60´s flavor. There are custom decals so kids can make it their own plus the saddle is comfortable with generous leg room for when they grow taller.
The controls are really straightforward with a throttle and a brake much like you´d find on a bike. What impresses me most is how well balanced it is, even at lower speeds. The 15mph top speed is powered by a chain driven motor which means it won´t suffer on rougher surfaces or grass.
Razor E300 Electric Scooter
Razor have made a name for themselves by producing affordable scooters that offer decent overall performance. The E300 is one level up from the E200 offering 100 watts more power. For that, you get a cruising 1mph top speed that performs well indoors and on smooth pavements.
The E300 has a maximum run time of 40 minutes after which you´ll have to recharge for 1hours. It´s reasonably light-weight at just 48llbs so you will get a decent amount of thrust from the chain driven motor. The foot panel is nice and wide but it also houses the battery meaning there´s little ground clearance.
Chain driven engine
Chain driven engines are by far the most common engine for electric scooters. The engine is similar to a bicycle in that there is large gear, the Pinion, and a smaller gear, the Sprocket. These are linked together by a continuous metal chain. The battery turns the Pinion which sets the chain in motion turning the Sprocket.
Chain driven engines are typically sturdy and long-lasting. They also provide an efficient level of power. The only drawbacks to a chain-driven engine is the weight of the chain as well as surging. Surging results in speed variations and makes it difficult for the scooter to maintain a consistent steady mph.
Chainless DC Hub Motor
The Glen Dolly scooter on this list uses a chainless DC Hub motor rather than a chain driven engine. The real advantage of using a chainless engine is that it´s compact. Sending energy through a drive shaft rather than through a chain. Chainless engines are more efficient plus they won´t suffer from surging in the way a traditional chain driven engine will.
Chainless motors are becoming increasingly common in electric bikes and scooters. One of the reasons for that is that power can be transferred in two directions. With the engine engaged power will come from the battery. However, if you push manually, the power you generate can be sent back to the battery to recharge it. Currently this technology is being used predominately on electric bicycles. In the near future I can see it becoming an industry standard on all personal transport vehicles.
Neo-dymium is an earth-magnet that produces a phenomenal amount of magnetic energy. So much so, that it is starting to be used in electric motors. These motors offer far more torque whilst fitting into a small space. Using magnetic force reduces friction significantly which means very little energy is wasted when in use.
Knowing a little about batteries will really help you to make an informed decision about your scooter. When we speak about power, we´re primarily talking about the strength of the wattage. Naturally, running more watts through an engine will increase its ability to handle inclines and tough surfaces. It also effects the weight capacity as well the acceleration.
As a rule of thumb, a battery that emits 250W, typically 1volts is a children´s motor. That amount of watts just isn´t enough to carry a fully grown adult. You´ll also notice that motors in the 250W capacity the engine feels sluggish and will struggle on tougher surfaces. On the other hand, if you´re buying for a child, you´re not going to want a hugely powerful engine that could put their safety in jeopardy.
When you´re choosing an electric scooter think about what you´re going to use it for. If you´re planning on every day usage you´ll want a scooter with an output between 750W and 2000W. The higher the Wattage the higher price, so think carefully about what you actually need before you part with any money.
Lithium Ion Battery
Lithium battery technology was developed largely because of mobile phones, tablets and portable computers. The trend was to make devices smaller and smaller. As a result extensive, and expensive, research was invested in Lithium Ion batteries.
In today´s market that research is being utilized in electric scooters. Lithium batteries are superior to lead batteries because of the low charge time; typically, to hours. They´re also much safer. Lithium use metal to generate energy which means, even as the battery decays, there is no risk of leaking fluid or catching fire. If you´re looking at an electric scooter as a long term investment we´d highly recommend getting one that uses a lithium ion battery.
Remove the battery when the unit is not being used
If at all possible, try to remove the battery when the machine is not in use. As long as a battery remains connected to something it will send out a small charge. If the battery life is low, that small charge can cause rapid decay of the battery.
Charge fully before using the first time
The first time you charge your scooter ensure that it charges to the maximum. Lead acid batteries will sometimes require double charge time of up to 2hours the first time. Always follow the manufacturing instructions to ensure long-lasting battery life.
Let the battery run all the way down before recharging
When you run energy through a battery to recharge it, the battery will decay slightly with each charge. Lithium Batteries, for example, have a lifespan of years or 400 charges. To ensure your battery doesn´t decay faster than it needs to let the battery run all the way down before recharging.
Columbia TX-550 Seated Electric Scooter
You might think that we put this scooter here solely for its looks. We´d forgive you that because it does look really cool. A seventies vintage orange and cream panel is complemented by a dark leather saddle. It´s definitely an eye-catching way to move.
The reason the Columbia TX-550 makes it on our list is the engine. A high-tech, high-torque neo-dymium magnet motor.Neo-dymium is a rare earth magnet that offers unprecedented levels of power. They store lots of energy in a small space with phenomenal torque output. Performance-wise, this scooter has 550W of power that take you to a top speed of 18mph. It´s fast with 12.inch road tread tires and will run for 12-1miles on a single charge.
I think the team at Columbia have let themselves down a little bit when it comes to the battery. The unit is a lead filled battery that takes 1hours to charge. If that wasn´t bad enough the battery has to be fully removed for charging, and the initial set-up is confusing and difficult.
Razor E200 Electric Scooter
Known for always providing quality electric scooters for adults and kids alike, Razor quickly became one of the most famous names in the industry. Their products manage to embody the spirit of freedom and fun and a great example is the E200, a very balanced option in terms of performance versus cost.
It manages to offer a thrilling ride but Razor made no compromises on comfort. The rear brake delivers smooth stopping power and the 8-inch pneumatic tires enable smooth rolling on most surfaces. Operating the scooter is simple as the manufacturer included the controls for throttle and brake in a twist grip.
Which are the top electric scooters available on the market today? Here is a list of some that are successful and among consumer favorites, in different categories.
