Why did this joystic come in second place?

Seems that the material is good. It has a very beautiful color but I don’t really like the texture. I like this product. For such a low price, I didn’t even hope it to be any better. It’s decently made. Managers explained me all the details about the product range, price, and delivery. This is a pretty decent product that perfectly fitted the interior of our office.

Why did this joystic take third place?

The material is incredibly nice to the touch. It has a great color, which will suit any wallpapers. This price is appropriate since the product is very well built. It is inconvenient to use due to the size. I am going to get something different next time. I liked the design. We’ve been using it for 2 months and it still looks like brand new.

joystic Buyer’s Guide

If you keep the before points in mind, you can easily go out to the market and buy joystic, right? No!

Thrustmaster’s T. Flight HOTAS X

Thrustmaster’s Warthog is worthy of being the priciest package the moment you begin to unbox the unit. What comes out is a collection of integrated metal enclosures for every major section, including the base’s body and the stick’s housing. That last module alone masses more than a kilogram by itself. The sheer mass imparts an impression of toughness, which can go a long way to reassuring you that it won’t be coming apart when pulled to-and-for as you’re slamming things in-game. Certainly the best joystick for Elite Dangerous, a popular game for PC joystick enthusiasts, and also generally the best joystick for PC games.

Saitek X5Flight Control System

This beautifully designed joystick utilizes the state-of-the-art Smart Technology software to program each of your gameplay. The system is made of precision control. There is no contact between X and Y axes, and there is constant spring force improve control. You can adjust the handle in positions to suit any hand size with comfortable contoured grip. It is also beautifully shines using the lighted buttons and LCD display.

Mad Catz F.L.Y.Stick for PC

Mad Catz F.L.Y.Stick for PC features the dual throttle which you can take control on different engines or set one throttle to an engine and another to another function. You can also tilt the head of the joystick to turn to any position you want them to be. Other features that come with the joystick include adjustable POV hat switch, adjustable handle height, adjustable handle angle, shift button and other 1buttons that are programmable.

Thrustmaster T-16000M Flight Stick

Buttons

Buttons, in general, are much simpler than joysticks. There’s a big difference between Japanese and American buttons, but only a small difference between Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons themselves. There are, however, two subsets of Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons: snap-in and screw-in buttons. Screw-in buttons are meant for wooden/thicker control panels, while snap-in buttons are easier to install but only work with thin metal panels. Each type of button has its own proponents–some argue that screw-ins can loosen after repeated use and need to be re-tightened, and others argue that snap-ins are more likely to break and are difficult to uninstall or exchange for other buttons.

Seimitsu buttons come in a larger variety of colors than Sanwas (including transparent), but are known for being a hair less sensitive than Sanwas. Both companies offer small 24mm (you probably don’t want these) and 30mm buttons, which are used in the vast majority of arcade machines. Sanwa buttons, in general, are so sensitive that even resting your fingers on them can activate them. Seimitsus require a touch more force.

Thrustmaster T-Flight Hot as X Flight Stick

These are the important features of Thrustmaster joystick. Beyond that they have preset button which can roll over from current playing session to previous playing session. The base is little weight filled for stability while playing with axles. The throttle control is detachable and real size.

Saitek PS2X5Flight Control System

The x and y axis doesn’t coincide in this joystick and give a steady spring force during gaming. The cost is also affordable.

Mad Catz F.L.Y.Stick

It has got adjustable POV hat switch like other joysticks to view in panorama effect.

The PCB

The PCB is the brain of your arcade stick. It’s what’s actually processing all of your button inputs, along with your console/PC. There are two main ways to get a PCB: purchase one or salvage one. Purchasing one ready-made is, once again, the easiest path for someone just getting started in arcade stick building. Ready-made PCB’s reduce the complex task of wiring to simple “insert tab A into slot B” instructions.

That being said, salvaging a PCB can be more cost effective, especially if you can get someone to give you a broken controller. When most console controllers break, it’s not the PCB that breaks, but the individual mechanical components. Many early joystick projects, before an industry was built around custom joystick creation, were made by salvaging the PCBs from these busted joysticks. If you can’t find a broken one, a crappy third-party knockoff controller is also a good thing to bust apart and salvage. Once again, it’s usually the mechanical parts that are inferior in these controllers, not the PCB.

The Nyko Playpad Pro is one of the less expensive controllers on our list of Despite the low cost, it still manages to be one of the best game controllers for the Android platform. And, unlike the MOGA Mobile Gaming System listed above, is still being fully supported by their company resulting in improved functionality even among the newest software. With direct and easy control with Android devices, the Nyko Playpad Pro has a great dal of support built in, allowing for keyboard mapping and mouse emulation. In addition, itslightweight design has made it a favorite among casual Android gamers.

While plastic, the controller has a great feel and is fun to use. It has some out of the box support that people appreciate, as well as some basic support for Android games that may not necessarily work well with controllers. In addition, people loved how quickly it worked out of the box. The biggest problem people had with the controller were that it had issues with falling apart. Whether it was in transport or caused by use, the Nyko Playpad has not held up well. That being said, it is still a fantastic bluetooth controller for casual gamers.

The Fantac Wireless Bluetooth Classic 8Bitdo NES30

With the Fantac Wireless Bluetooth Classic, you bring a familiar design to your android gaming experience. Made to look like an original Super Nintendo controller, the Fantac Classic is definitely hoping that nostalgia will win you over. With primary support for all Android versions (as well as secondary support for iOS), the Fantac Classic has programmable keys, and is typically used for touch screen devices. It is a great controller to get if you want the look and feel of the SNES controller. Its downfall is that it is kind of expensive compared to other bluetooth controllers.

What people love most of all about this controller is the look and feel. People love that it functions well, and is more than just a cheep knock off looking to make money from nostalgic design. People like how many resources there are for how to set up the controller online, as well as how reliable it is. The only complaints come from the analog sticks being less than optimal for some gamers, as well as issues with performance when playing games due to the small analog stick design. Don’t expect to play twitch shooters with any success with this controller.

With the release of the Collector’s CD-ROM Editions of TIE Fighter and X-Wing on GOG, I figured it was time to revisit this post and play one of the best Star Wars PC games. Some of my advice has changed, and I’ve also had to troubleshoot another joystick problem with TIE CD.

But the most important thing to know is that the definitive version of TIE Fighter is now available and you must play it.

Old article

Most importantly, I had an odd and frustrating joystick issue that took me a few minutes to solve.

In order to play the 199versions of X-Wing and TIE Fighter, you absolutely have to have a joystick. There are supposedly some workaround out there to fake it with a mouse and keyboard or a 360 controller, but the particular problem I had was that the game did not recognize my perfectly good Saitek X-5Every time I launched the game, I got an error message telling me to make sure my joystick was connected.

My first thought was that the GOG editions were having trouble with USB joysticks, and that I’d have to find some kind of emulator to trick the program into thinking I had a serial port joystick.

But actually, it turns out the “advanced” tab in the USB game controllers offers an option about which of your USB devices you’d like to use for older games. For some reason, Windows had decided my USB webcam was also a joystick, and that is what it was trying to use for TIE Fighter.

So, if you have a USB joystick and it’s not behaving with TIE Fighter or X-Wing, just make sure you have the right device selected in the “Set up USB Game Controllers” menu. Once I’d taken care of that, both the 199and original 199editions worked with my joystick.

I feel bad playing the Empire.

Don’t. TIE Fighter makes a persuasive case for the Galactic Empire. Yes, they wiped out Alderaan to make a point and to threaten a teenage princess. But under the Rebels’ governance, the New Republic lost a planet full of people about once every two or three years.

Buttons feel cheap

Made up of a solid piece of metal with rubber feet and a good amount of weight. All this make Mayflash F500 a durable and solid fight stick. As well as many other devices on this list, F500 is great when it comes to modding. Each of the buttons can be replaced and the joystick is no exception either. Just unscrew bolts at the bottom, and then you have access to everything inside. This basically larger version of Mayflash F300 is not a premium quality arcade stick by any means but it is not a cheap, budget device either. Mayflash F500 is compatible with all main gaming platforms and works well with most games.

Not easily modded

What to say about HORI Real Arcade Pro Probably the best-selling arcade sticks of all time and used by many professional gamers. Premium design, high-quality build, and customization made HORI well-known brand. The device works perfectly on any platform, there is a small switch on the side that will help to change between consoles and OC. The Hayabusa joystick itself moves very smoothly around and Hayabusa buttons are very responsive and feel, once pressed, pretty smooth. You get all the features of high-end fightstick at a reasonable price.

Non-detachable USB cable

The Qanba brand has been associated with the finest joysticks loved by professional fighting game e-athletes worldwide for many years. This device is amazing. It weighs almost 1pounds, feels solid and heavy. The body is made out of an aluminum alloy, got an elegant design and it also provides outstanding gaming experience and maximum possible comfort. Qanba Dragon Arcade Stick is equipped with premium Sanwa Denshi buttons, handle and square restrictor gate. Of course, all these parts can be easily modified.

Expensive

Do you want to customize it? Just press a button and the case opens for you. The internal of this item also provides a dedicated storage compartment that gives you space for your tools and parts.

Overall, Madcatz TE2+ is an amazing tool you need to crush your opponents. Durable, reliable, and designed for custom artwork, this high-end arcade stick is worth every penny for both passionate and competitive players.

When it comes to fighting sticks aka arcade sticks, it is all about getting used to it. One question at the end of this Top Best Arcade Sticks (Fight Sticks) 201list.

PLATFORM

Probably the most important thing you should know before purchasing a fight stick is to decide on which platforms it will be used. Some sticks are specially designed for Xbox, some are exclusive for Playstation. Fortunately, not all fighting sticks are made exclusive for one platform, you can always pick up a universal arcade stick such as Mayflash F300 or if you are PC user, you are able to use Xbox or PlayStation sticks immediately after plugging in or with a help of software.

Controllers are not same. There are many differences: button layouts, number of buttons (vs 8), joystick style (baseball bat vs lollipop), and joystick gate ( square vs circle vs diamond vs octagonal). Gamers often modding their fight sticks with new buttons, gates, and other parts.

I picked up few videos that should help you with this easy task.

Size is a very important factor, there are many different shapes and sizes for fight sticks. If you are someone that will be transporting their stick around a lot, perhaps a smaller size stick that can fit in a bag would be a better choice. If you like a lot of wrist support and space to play with, then a wider stick is definitely a good choice.

Button manufacturer

There are a few different button manufacturers out there that are used in fight sticks and they each have a different feel and look to them. Some fight stick manufacturers such as Hori even use their own type of buttons.

Sanwa are the most used and popular buttons available, they are cheap, of high quality, and come in a number of colour combinations. They feel very smooth with a shallow actuation point for quick presses. It can be easy to activate the wrong buttons with these buttons if you are just starting out.

Seimitsu are another popular choice, they are a bit more expensive than Sanwa but come in many different colours effects. When pressed, the Seimitsu buttons have a very tactile click to them that isn’t present in the Sanwa buttons, this means presses take a little more force, so if you prefer that, Seimitsu is the perfect choice.

Restrictor Gates

Different joysticks have different restrictor gates, the majority use a square gate, this means that you can only move the stick within the square shape, this makes pulling off moves a lot easier.

Many people though also like to use different shape gates, such as octagonal, sometimes different gates benefit different characters and games.
