They include

The Price: This is a factor in almost any product. You want to choose a product based on the size of your budget. Outline trimmers listed here highly vary in prices, depending on the number of features and versatility. Therefore, regardless of what you decide to go for, make sure it is within your budget.

Corded/Cordless: Whether an outline trimmer is corded or cordless is a really important factor to consider. If you have a socket and you are buying a trimmer, perhaps to use in the bathroom or generally in the house, then having a corded beard will do no harm. However, if you are buying a beard to use it outside, especially where there is no socket, then your focus should be on a cordless trimmer, as it is more convenient.

Maintenance: It is a sure thing that no one wants an outline trimmer which is hard to maintain. It is annoying if you buy a trimmer, but a few days later, it starts to depreciate and even snag as well as tug on hairs. As a result, you should look at the cleaning and maintenance features comprehensively to avoid future regrets. Luckily, most of the trimmers listed above are easy to maintain.

Styling Features: If you are after keeping a somewhat traditional-styled beard, and are not interested in shaving funky, unique patterns into it, a trimmer you choose must not have attachments featured in various sizes and shapes. Nevertheless, if you are interested in keeping a particular type of beards such as a goatee or stubbly one, then a trimmer you should go for must have attachments or features to help you achieve and maintain your preferred style.

Now you know the factors you should look for exactly when buying an outline trimmer. Look at them thoroughly, and you won’t go astray as far as getting a desirable, top performing and efficient outline trimmer is concerned.

Wahl Pro 8546

In addition to this, it also features a quick charge feature, giving you around 1minutes of use (enough for a single use) in only 1minutes.

The casing is sleek, yet heavy weight and the overall design is very premium. The front display has LED lights so that you know when to plug in for charge.

This model uses a powerful rotary motor capable of chomping through forest like hair. As you might expect the price is a little jump from the cheapest items, but with all the features this offers the price is really reasonable and makes them a great choice for someone looking for the best performance at work.

This Wahl model marks a step in the history of the evolution of personal and professional hair grooming and is highly recommended.

Cord or Cordless

So do you stick to your tried and tested clippers, or try out the more recent cordless options? Personally, we think that cordless clippers have progressed enough that the investment is more than worthwhile. Models like the Wahl Pro Lithium Ion 8546  and many other models have too many benefits to ignore, plus being cable free makes maneuvering far lighter work right through the day.

Battery Life

All of the pro models we’ve listed have top of the range battery life and charge quickly and efficiently. If you’re looking elsewhere be sure to find a lithium ion battery, they dwarf the life of regular rechargeable models and don’t get weaker as the battery gets lower.

You’re going to be holding your clipper and moving it around in your preferred hand all day long, be sure to get one that’s going to suit your hand size. Some models are almost weightless, but others are quite chunky, and might be quite tiring for some.

If you’re unsure or buying a clipper model for the first time, always make sure it comes with a reasonable guarantee time. Professional clippers can be expensive, and you want to be able to return them if you’re not satisfied, or compatible with your chosen model.

Pivot Motor Hair Clipper

The pivot motor does cut a little more slowly in terms of rotations per minute when compared to the rotary motor, though it’s very powerful, and it’s slower speed makes it great for all day use since it doesn’t overheat as easily. The Pivot motor has no problem slicing through damp thick hair.

Magnetic Motor Hair Clipper

The magnetic option is more suited for less frequent use. So if you use clippers mainly for tidying up edges, and this type of work then this should be ideal for you. The speed is decent, and the power is strong, though it overheats easily, and so shouldn’t be used as an all day clipper.

The stainless steel may also come coated in a harder wearing material such as carbon or titanium. This adds to the sharpness, though also the cost.

If you cut hair all day, you may find that coated blades get the job done a little faster than stainless steel models, and it might perform better on the most extreme thick hair.

Being a very poor conductor of heat, ceramic blades are perfect for all day use. They can keep up their max power all day without overheating, protecting the clipper from long-term damage.

Do be careful, though, as well as being more expensive, the ceramic blades are also more fragile than the alternatives.

It is certainly a good quality multi purpose trimmer which can be used to trim beards, give yourself a haircut, head balding, cleaning up the neck area and much more.

The guides available are in three sizes 0.5, and 1.So, if you are looking for a beard trimmer to maintain a beard longer than 1.inches, then this is not the right tool for you.

Our pick

If we were to take up regular home haircutting, this is the clipper we’d reach for first. The Wahl Elite Pro’s combs are a rigid-but-smooth ABS plastic that doesn’t bend when pushed against a scalp, and they stay seated and straight on the blade better than any other set we tried, thanks to a metal retaining clip on the back. They add great value, considering that replacement combs of equal quality for a competitor cost about half the price of this entire clipper kit. The taper lever on the side of the clipper didn’t slip from vibration, which we’ve experienced from other clippers we’ve used in the past. We also liked the Wahl Elite Pro’s thick and extra-long 8-foot power cord. The hard plastic carry case, along with a relatively nice pair of shears with a cover, round out the experience.

Pull Quote

The guide combs ended up being the biggest differentiator among the clippers we considered.

Compared with many of today’s household devices, hair clippers are decidedly low-tech. However, their components are worth evaluating individually; sometimes we found the sum of the parts to be greater than the whole.

A couple of guide combs. The longer the comb, the longer the resulting hair.

Combs are made of different types of plastic, which turned out to be a major factor in their usefulness. If they are too rigid or sharp, they can chip or break or may be uncomfortable to scrape across a scalp; if they are too flexible, they can easily bend and flex as they are pushed on the head, resulting in different hair lengths and leaving furrows like you’d see in a farm field. Some comb designs allow too much play, which can trap and pull hair, snap on crookedly, or even cause the combs to pop off in the middle of cutting hair. We found combs made of rigid ABS plastic to be the best performers.

Our pick moving through hair.

The taper lever is an advanced feature: that little doodad found on the side of a clipper that increases or decreases hair length more finely than you can by switching combs by shifting the bottom blade forward or back. Ideally you can adjust it with a finger when cutting hair, though it shouldn’t be loose enough to slip from a bump or vibration, or you end up with different hair lengths. A taper lever that moves too easily is terrible, and we found some taper levels were too easy to poke accidentally while cutting. But among pros with the technical capability, it’s an essential element for blending and fading between different lengths of hair, especially on the side of the head. For a home haircutting enthusiast, its value is extremely subjective.

Flaws but not dealbreakers

The Wahl Elite Pro lacks a T-blade attachment or companion trimmer, which allows for close cutting around the ear, in the back, and around facial hair without accidentally nicking an ear or creating a bald patch. The absence of one may be problematic for buyers who plan to cut their children’s hair, as full-size clippers have a long blade that’s tricky to maneuver around tiny, tender ears. For us, their absence was minor.

For some, another minor point against the Wahl Elite Pro was the lack of left- and right-ear tapered guide combs, which are used to simultaneously trim and blend around the ears. They can make cutting this area easier for beginners, we didn’t miss them in our own testing and got along just fine using regular straight combs.

The Remington Virtually Indestructible trimmer, our pick for those cutting their own hair.

If you’re mostly clipping your own hair, then the smaller, lighter, and easier-to-maneuver Remington Virtually Indestructible Haircut and Beard Trimmer may be a better choice. The Remington’s palm-sized lightweight housing, coupled with rubberized grips, was the most comfortable of any we tried, especially when guiding it along the back of our head while looking in a mirror—that’s a tricky maneuver, especially when cutting along the hairline. We found it easy to manipulate when held like a pen, so it was our favorite clipper for cutting our own hair.

Care and maintenance

Eric Aleman of King of Kings with some maintenance products for his clippers.

Hair clippers are as close to an immortal product as any I’ve seen in two decades. Every expert we spoke with repeated the same basic mantra: Oil your clipper’s blade and it will last years, even decades. (Or as Ivan Zoot put it, “Blow dryers and clippers do not die: They are only murdered.”) Oiling cuts down on friction, so the blade doesn’t snag your hair or heat up and burn your skin. What’s even more astounding is that, per user reviews and our own experience, clippers regularly live years, a decade, maybe several, even without a single drop of oil. This means that if you are the sort to hold onto any device till it dies, your investment very will likely be with you a long time; all the more reason to pick a winner.

If you want top performance, a five-point oiling goes like this: before each use, place a drop along each side of the blade and one in the middle while the blade is running, and then one on either side where the moving lower blade rubs against the fixed upper blade. Move the razor around a bit to let the oil travel—but then tip it so the blades point downward to let excess oil run out, away from the motor (which can get gummed up over time). Turn off the clipper and gently dab the excess oil away with a tissue or towel, being sure not to snag fibers or paper. Most manufacturers also recommend that you wipe away loose hairs following a haircut with a stiff bristle brush (almost always included along with oil) followed by another oiling to prevent potential surface rust. When you run out of the tiny included bottle of oil, you can use food-grade mineral oil instead. Avoid 3-in-1, WD-40, or other non-food-safe lubricants which may cause a skin reaction.

The competition

We didn’t find a marked enough difference in actual haircutting capabilities among any of the clippers we tested for any of them to be an unsound purchase, especially since they’re often low-priced and long-lived devices. Since a low-cost clipper kit is close enough to the cost of a haircut, the stakes are unusually low.

The Andis Master is a gorgeous piece of industrial design, a dumbbell-heavy, polished aluminum beauty with a powerful and quiet magnetic motor. It doesn’t come with combs and is really purpose-built for precise tight fades of the sort only a trained barber is capable of. “It’s like handling a Katana—not just anyone can use it,” our expert Eric Aleman says.

The Andis BGRC was a wonderful machine: lightweight, comfortable to hold, with a whisper-quiet rotary motor and ceramic top-blade that is capable of blazing through thick hair with ease. The BGRC is the Lamborghini Veneno of hair clippers, all precision and perfection, but at more than twice the price of our pick, for non-pros it’s an extravagant and unjustifiable purchase.

We wanted to love the Andis Headliner Combo, a 27-piece kit which includes a corded clipper as well as a corded trimmer along with guide combs, scissors, brush, oil and more. We were put off by the low-quality guide combs, which are too flexible to be trustworthy.

Similarly the Wahl Deluxe Chrome Pro is a 25-piece kit which, like the Andis Headliner Combo, had flimsy guide combs that didn’t seat reliably. (The same comb issue afflicts the Wahl Color Pro, which is a nearly identical model we didn’t test.) The included battery-operated trimmer is useful and in fact a missing element from our main pick. However, that doesn’t redeem the poor quality combs.

The design is very good, and it will last for a long time. There are some amazing characteristics of the device. Now let us see the features know more about the product.

How to use the professional hair clippers

Select your size. There are numbers of attachment in every clipper. You can cut your hair with different lengths. Some people like to cut sides of hair shorter than from the top.

Make your hair dry at first. Never cut your wet hair with the clippers as this will make the blade rust. Catch the clipper along with blade down, do action against the growth of your hair. The result is you can catch a good amount of hair with the guard. Be careful about going very fast. Do not tug on the hair or touch the scalp. By going slowly, you may say surely that you are doing a comfortable cut.

The target is to cut all hair at one pass. Take away the guard and turn clipper on your hand. Cut a good line at your back of the neck and around your ear. Do all things carefully and slowly. Take off the clipper from the hair down and on the back of the neck. Cut the line to the bottom of the sideburns to ensure they are even.

If you are cutting the facial hair, you can use a guard for the facial transition. After removing the blade brush the cutter well to remove hairs. You can wash it with alcohol after that use a protection of oil layer. You need to remove the oil that came with the clippers.

Stainless Steel

Stainless steel is the common type of blades that used. This is very sharp, simple to maintain and clean, very cheap and easy to purchase. It will last for a long time and have the power to resist rusting. This is very popular to the professional clippers, and they are fit for heavy cutting.

The stainless steel comes with a new shaped coat like carbon or of titanium. This may add the sharpness. You can do the job for the whole day, and you will find the device is doing a job very well, it can do the job well even for the thick hair.

There is a poor conductor of heat; you may use the ceramic blade for all day long. The will never keep overheating and can use safely for all the days, save it from a long term damage. The device is more expensive; the blades are more fragile also.

You need to reshape the clipper every day or regularly depending on the use of the device. If you use it regularly, you need to sharpen the clipper. The unit has a removing blade, along with the magnet and there is an up and down stone to the corner of the clipper. The angle of the blade is more tilted so at the time of using it becomes sharpen. It is beneficial for all kinds of hairs. So you can select your clipper for the preferred blade for your choice.

How to Maintaining lock Clippers

The important and easy way to maintain the clipper properly is to clean the tools after every use. Especially you need to clean it well to put it in the storage.

The first step is to clean the tool well to remove all hairs from outside of the device.

You could apply a brush to brush it well; lay down a towel. Need to give more attention to the end of the device. Some clippers come with a small brush to serve the purpose.

You need to use a screwdriver for the opening of the tool. You can remove the blade cover. This will make the blade more accessible.

Add Oil to Lubricate the Clippers

There is some moving as well as metal parts. If you use oil, all the parts of the Clippers will do the function well for future. Some clippers are coming to the market with having the hair clipper oil. These are made especially for this purpose.

The oil is very thin and does not evaporate, and the oil does not impede the movement of the blade or other parts of the tool. So using oil on the tool is a very important factor. It will help the device to run smoothly and form a waterproof cover. The cover helps to resist the storage of the rust. The oily blade remains sharp for a long time and does not pull or catch the hair much.

Sharpening Hair Clippers

If you use the clippers very carefully and well, you need not sharpen it. The design is so well that it moves one to each other and can ensure that the blades are very useful and sharper enough.

If you do not maintain the blade properly, you need to sharpen the blade. When you use the blade for cutting other materials except for the hair, it may be dull and need to make it sharp.

At first, use a screwdriver to remove the blade. Before trying to sharpening at first clean the blade well to remove dirt or trapped hair. For the cleaning of the blade, you can use rubbing alcohol such as isopropyl. This is very helpful to remove grease or dirt from the blade. If you need to sharpen the blade you can do it with the sharpening stone.

If you like to store a clipper, be sure that the device is cleaned well, and there is no hair, and the parts are dried well.

When you make this purchase, you will be getting a product that has been tested and proven. Before being sold, their cutting ability is tested with string. For this andis t-outliner to have left the factory, it means that it met the quality and standards required. Another interesting fact is that it was also oiled from the factory as well.

The housing of this andis t-outliner is contoured and it has a motor which can run at high speeds.  You will also be able to adjust the blades to provide you with a shaving experience that fits you.

In some instances, one model can be more expensive because it is inclusive of more accessories.

These accessories can be expensive when bought separately, which is why we highly recommend that you purchase a hair clipper that comes complete with all the accessories that you will need.

Aside from the blades and the attachment combs, the accessories must also include tools for cleaning and maintaining the hair clipper.

The housing refers to the exterior of the hair clipper. It is important to evaluate such because it will be indicative of durability, comfort, and ease of use.

Ideally, you should choose one that is made from high-quality housing using only premium materials.

It must be able to withstand drops so that it will last longer. Most importantly, the housing should be designed in such a way that it will make the unit user-friendly.

Cordless trimmers have more flexibility than corded trimmers because you can use them practically anywhere. Most cordless trimmers provide up to an hour of cutting time on a single charge, with the length of the charge needed to get to full power varying from trimmer to trimmer.

Corded trimmers, generally speaking, provide a little more power. They also offer the peace of mind from knowing that your trimmer’s battery won’t run out in the middle of a trim.

If you choose a cordless trimmer, it’s important to know the length of the battery’s life before it needs to recharge. With a corded trimmer, the length of the cord may be important if you’re seeking maximum maneuverability in your bathroom or another area where you do your trimming.

Cordless trimmers usually come with charging stations, or stands, and you can leave your charger in the stand until its next use to ensure a full charge.

Many trimmers come with attachments that are added to the unit to achieve different lengths and different styles – such as a goatee – or include a stubble guide attachment that helps you achieve the stubble look that is popular among many men.

Many of the best trimmers are good for wet and dry use, i.e., you can both use it in the shower and/or with shave gels, lotions, and foams. Waterproof trimmers are usually easier to clean, as well. In most cases, you simply wash them with water from your faucet to remove excess hair trimmings. That kind of convenience is hard to beat.

Stainless steel, chromium, and titanium blades are longer lasting and more comfortable than other types blades. Many beard trimmers, including more expensive ones, have dual-edged blades that provide extra cutting precision (and enable you to fine-tune your beard more efficiently).

The travel-friendliness of your trimmer is something to consider if you’re on the road a lot. Is the trimmer lightweight, compact and easily placed into a carry-on bag or another type of luggage? Portability is an important consideration in any case.

This product comes with these attachments: the trimmer itself, a trimmer blade, a detail blade, a dual shaver, a t-blade, beard guide combs (full, medium & stubble), t-blade guide combs (1/4” 1/8” 3/8”), a 6-position guide, A beard comb, a charger, a cleaning brush, blade oil, a charging and storage base, and a styling guide.

You can now understand why this kit has the ability to take care of all your shaving and trimming needs.

Fully Washable

We all know a shaver that can’t be washable is very poor when it comes to its performances. The blades become jammed, and the clear, smooth cut becomes very difficult to achieve.

But then the shaver is fully washable; then it’s very important since the blades will never be clogged giving one the much desired smooth trim. All the above features make it best beard trimmer for stubble.

Powerful Rechargeable Battery

It has a powerful lithium battery that can hold a charge up to times longer with three times the runtime and two times the torque. Plus the battery can be recharge very quickly for five minutes, though a full charge can be achieved in an hour.

The Panasonic model is extremely super sharp and can never fail you at any given moment. Trust me, when I say its super sharp, and yes you need to say goodbye to those long trimming session. The trimmer is very fast since its blades are super sharp.

Lithium Powered Battery

The shaver has a lithium-ion powered battery that actually can allow you to use it on the go. I mean who would want an unreliable battery that can easily fail you? That’s why I think this model is very good when it comes to its reliability.

Nine Length Settings

When it comes to effective performance, then having a trimmer that has length settings is very important. The nine length setting enables you to have the perfect grip while shaving which makes the trimmer very easy and comfortable to handle. This is in my list because it’s the best beard trimmer for sensitive skin.

Say goodbye to those sad days of struggling with your trimmer just because its grips do not fit on your palms. Plus it can be very slippery causing external injuries. But for this trimmer, its structure handle is contoured to fit your hand comfortably. It’s the best beard trimmer for barbers.

Rechargeable Verses Battery

This is a toss-up. A rechargeable electric beard trimmer lets you take it with you on the go. However, battery operated trimmers work just as well. So if you love moving around then, you should purchase a rechargeable shaver, but if you are comfortable using a battery shaver then, it also performs effectively too though a bit expensive especially when it comes to its battery maintenance.

Ear And Brow Trimmer

These let you trim all that unwanted hair. Considering the precise nature of the task, choose a trimmer that fits comfortable in your hand and is easy to maneuver. At times, it’s very necessary to have a beard shaver that can multi-task so that its application cannot be restricted to just trimming your beards.

100% waterproof and insulated with 40g of Thinsulate, these gloves are great at keeping you warm – but are also breathable. The ribbed cuff provides a close fit while the slimline design and thinner palm increases the sensitivity for riding. All of this is combined with Tredstep’s Wet-Tec for grip in all conditions.

Tredstep Polar H2O glove

We also really rate the Tredstep Polar H2O glove. It’s a fantastic option for all-weather riding as it is crafted from an Air Fibre stretch back synthetic suede to increase sensitivity. On top of this, Tredstep have used 40g of Thinsulate insulation, an extended cuff and a breathable membrane to retain the warmth without making the gloves too hot.

SealSkinz All Weather Riding Gloves

These lightweight, technical all-weather gloves are a good choice for slightly warmer winter weather (SealSkinz have given them a a warmth rating of out of 5). They use SealSkinz patented three-layer technology and feature extended, stretch cuffs for heat retention. At the same time, they are very dextrous with a pre-curved, reinforced design on the fingers which allows consistent contact with the reins.

Down-to-Feather Ratio

Many manufacturers are now treating their down with hydrophobic compounds that certainly make them better at dealing with moisture (more on that later). But at the end of the day, synthetic insulation is king at staying warm when wet, since it won’t lose its structure, even if it isn’t quite as good at retaining heat. Legendary alpinist Steve House obsesses about traveling light expeditions, but will add ounces—sometimes pounds—of excess weight to his kit by bringing synthetic jackets and sleeping bags. “If I’m going to be overnight or on an expedition, I am going to go synthetic,” House said. He used a synthetic Patagonia Das Parka to guide in places like Denali and Chamonix since the nineties, long before he was sponsored by the company.

Ethical Concerns

There are plenty. Due to the fact that down is a bi-product of the of the goose and duck meat industry, and given that the vast majority of the down manufacturers are using is from far away places like China and Eastern Europe, it’s extremely difficult to keep track of how those ducks and geese are being treated before and during their slaughter.

Down-Synthetic Hybrids

Some materials companies (like synthetic insulation pioneer Primaloft) have combined synthetics with down in an effort to create a best of both worlds combo of warmth, weight, and water-repellency. This method involves actually intertwining hydrophobic-treated down with synthetic fills. The jury’s still out on these types of fills, and I haven’t used very many of them myself.
