rc tanks Buyer’s Guide
RC Tanks can be fuel, electric, battery, or gas powered. It is important to know which type of power each uses. Also, determining the length and accessibility of charging and recharging is important to consider.
On average, most battery-powered RC’s take an hour to charge. They usually last for 15-30 minutes of continuous runtime.
There are different functions and capacities with different radio controls. Some may have only one channel. Others may have quite a few more, depending on the capability of the tank.
Some come with more than one speed setting as well. Others have extra features like 4-way independent tanker settings. Or they might have sound and light effects that coordinate with cannon fire or laser hits.
It’s good to be aware of what the RC’s functions do. If you prefer simplicity or more standard control, one setting might due.
If you’re looking for RC’s with many speeds and settings, it’s important to know that in advance, too.
The right RC makes a lot of difference in the kind of enjoyment users experience when running their RC Tanks.
Designed after the 194WWII German Tank, the Cheerwing German Tiger I Panzer Tank is a realistic tank replica. However, this RC this small. It’s so tiny; it can fit easily in the palm of your hand.
Extremely fast already, this speed demon has a “Super Speed” button option. This adds 50% more adrenaline to its already quick speed.
For such a small cruiser, it navigates well between floor and rug surfaces. It holds up under pet hair and dust build-up better than most mini RC tanks as well.
It can even traverse over small objects between ¼ to ½ an inch high without taking too much of a beating. It has realistic and enthusiastic sound effects also. This mini RC tank is a great option for any age, especially younger users.
It uses JPJet Fuel to power its turbine engine.

This well-made tank has a sophisticated, highly detailed design that is fun for ages 1and up to use. This tank is great for simulated battle play users as well as individual use.
Off-Road RC Cars
The bits that go in your car are often more important than the car itself. You can often avoid dealing with these sorts of details by looking at a “Ready-to-Run” (RTR) package like the Tamiya XB range of cars. It is always worth checking whether there are additional requirements to get your car on the road. The Wonderland Models Radio Control Department are more than happy to help with any queries you may have.
To make it easier for you we have put together a couple of package deals that include most of the parts you need to get your car going. Depending on what level you are at there is a package deal for you.
So, what do you need? Usually to get a RC Car going you needs the following.
How you will control the vehicle. This will usually include a transmitter, receiver, and occasionally servos. You can see here Wonderland Models range of transmitter packages from leading companies like Carson. Almost all cars will require at least servo to control the steering of the vehicle, so make sure that your radio package includes one. If it doesn’t, you could use something like the Carson CS-or Hitec HS-322HD.
There are a great many battery chargers available these days, and which one will suit your purposes is often a bit hard to figure out. If you are just starting out and using the standard NiMh type of batteries that are meant for RC Cars, then you can get away with something like the basic Ansmann Powerjack 6-Charger which will charge a 2000mAh NiMh battery overnight (6-hours). The Ansmann Delta Fast Charger will charge the same capacity battery in about 20-30mins, and is often worth the extra money.
Motors and Speed Controllers
Brushed Motors – Are the traditional style of motor that come in a variety of strengths and are generally cheaper.
Brushless Motors – A more recent arrival into the world of RC. They can be faster, more efficient and easier to maintain than traditional brushed motors. However, they involve a higher initial cost.

The remote is programmable. This tank is made of plastic primarily. It is very detailed for its size, and the quality of detail for the price is superb. The length of this tank is sixteen inches and it’s 8.inches wide.If you want to fight a friend who has the same tank, this is possible. More than one of these tanks can run at a time, and you can get sixty minutes of awesome tank action on a charge.
The turret on this tank has a left and right turning angle of 320 degrees and can move up and down 30 degrees. There is a seventy-five feet firing range, so your friend cannot hide from your onslaught. The range of your remote is sixty feet, meaning if you want to chase after someone with this tank you can.
The only downside to this tank is that the tracks are a rubber belt. After a while, they can slip off when you make tight turns and you will have to put them back on. That said, this tank is a lot of fun both to shoot and to look at.

Fibreglass Water Tanks
Fibreglass tanks need a food-grade coating to be up to Australian standards for storing water.
They are very stiff and rigid, but relatively thin and light, making them quite brittle and prone to cracking.
They also allow more light entry and are often darker coloured to reduce algae growth.
The quality of a fibreglass tank depends on its maker, so make sure to check the quality thoroughly before choosing this material.
Steel Water Tanks
Most steel water tanks are made of galvanised steel—a zinc coating that protects the steel from corrosion. These tanks can be built to hold capacities from about 30,000 litres to millions of litres of water. This makes them a suitable solution for extremely large storage requirements.
Galvanised steel over time however still rusts and corrodes, and the zinc can leak into your water leaving your stored water tasting metallic. To help overcome this issue most steel rainwater tanks come with liners made of food-grade polyethylene. These can be quite expensive to fabricate, and over time can break and require repair.
Stainless steel tanks don’t have many of these issues, but then such are a lot more expensive that often make them less feasible.
Concrete Water Tanks
Concrete tanks are quite strong and often long lasting. Unfortunately, the introduction of reinforcing steel into concrete has created a new problem that affected the durability of concrete tanks. When embedded reinforcing steel corrodes, it can cause concrete to crack and break.
Lime, which is found in concrete, can also leak into the water. They are generally installed underground for commercial purposes, but can be used for residential use as well.
Diagnosing the Problem
In the rehabilitation process, it is important to first determine why the concrete is deteriorating. Having this information allows you to address the root cause of the problem so that you don’t get locked-in to a never-ending cycle of repair. This information is usually obtained from consulting engineers and concrete testing firms who specialize in the evaluation of concrete and who will usually perform a series of field and laboratory testing. From this data, a qualified professional can determine if the problem is freeze-thaw, chemical attack, settlement, abrasion, corrosion, etc. With this information, a protection strategy that addresses the real root cause of deterioration can be developed, instead of just applying a quick-fix solution. This is an extremely important part of the rehabilitation process and should not be compromised.
One of the most common root causes of deterioration in concrete tanks is corrosion of the reinforcing steel. In the presence of moisture and oxygen, steel will corrode if not protected. Under normal circumstances, the high alkalinity of new concrete (pH 12p;13) creates a natural protective oxide layer around the steel known as a passivating layer. As long as this layer stays intact, the steel is protected from corrosion. Unfortunately, dissolved salts in the contained water can penetrate through hardened concrete and destroy this passivating layer. The lower the quality of the concrete, the more permeable the concrete will be thereby allowing water, oxygen and salts to penetrate more easily. When this occurs, rust forms on the surface of the steel, increasing the volume of steel by up to about 2p;times its initial volume (Figure 2). This expansion from within creates large tensile forces within the concrete. Since concrete is relatively weak in tension, the concrete cracks to relieve the tensile stresses (Figure 3). Once the concrete cracks, water, oxygen and aggressive chemicals can freely enter the concrete and attack the embedded rebar and the deterioration process escalates.
A strategy that can be implemented to slow down the corrosion process is the use of penetrating corrosion inhibitors. A corrosion inhibitor, as defined by the American Concrete Institute, is “a liquid or powder that effectively decreases corrosion of reinforcing steel.” In the case of existing concrete, a liquid amino alcohol-based corrosion inhibitor can be sprayed onto the surface of the concrete where it will penetrate through the hardened concrete down to the depth of the rebar. When the penetrating corrosion inhibitor reaches the rebar, it forms a protective layer around the steel. Such a method has been shown in independent laboratory tests to reduce corrosion in reinforced concrete by as much as 60 to 70 percent. This technology requires no special equipment and is easy to apply, making it ideal for plant maintenance crews (Figure 4). This type of corrosion inhibitor also may be used as an admixture to protect rebar in new concrete.
To protect concrete in potable water tanks, polymer-modified cementitious coatings have been used with much success. A polymer-modified cementitious coating can provide an extremely dense protective layer on the surface of concrete while at the same time providing a degree of flexibility (Figure 6). The flexibility of this coating is important because it allows hairline cracks (less than 1?3inch wide) to be sealed by the coating without having to detail every crack with sealant, chemical grout, or a strip and seal system. A good polymer-modified cementitious coating can bridge these small cracks and be flexible enough to withstand a small amount of crack movement from thermal expansion and contraction of the concrete. However, the quality of the polymer component of the coating is an important ingredient that dictates just how flexible and dense the coating will be. Acrylic and styrene-acrylic based polymers provide the desired properties.
For tanks that contain wastewater, the chemical resistance of the coating is extremely important. For the coating to be successful in protecting the concrete, it must be resistant to the particular chemicals at certain concentrations in the contained wastewater. The best way to determine if a particular coating is resistant to the wastewater in question is through laboratory analysis. This option often is not economically feasible for the job at hand. When this is the case, the owner or engineer should ask for reference projects from the coating manufacturer (preferably projects with similar exposure conditions).
For wastewater tanks, epoxy coatings offer a high degree of chemical resistance and ease of application. More specifically, the standard liquid bisphenol A epoxy with polyamine hardener has proven to be very durable in wastewater tanks. Other coating technologies such as polyureas, urethanes and vinyl esters also offer a high degree of chemical resistance but often are not easily applied.
While epoxies generally have excellent chemical resistance and are user-friendly, they need to be applied under the right conditions. One of the most common problems occurs when epoxy coatings are applied on wet concrete. This condition generally happens with tanks that have been recently drained to permit repair and maintenance work to be done.
Two moisture-related issues that need to be checked before applying an epoxy coating are moisture vapor transmission (outgassing) and excessive moisture content.
Moisture vapor transmission.
Moisture vapor transmission (outgassing) simply means that water in its gaseous form (moisture vapor) is trying to exit the concrete. Under the right conditions of temperature and humidity, moisture vapor can be drawn out of the concrete and into the atmosphere through evaporation. If you try to apply an epoxy coating (or any other “non-breathable” coating) on concrete that is experiencing outgassing, you could end up with blisters and pinholes, coating defects that do not provide any protection for the concrete. Additionally, these blisters and pinholes often lead to delamination of the coating that can affect a much larger area (Figure 7).
There is a simple test that can be performed in checking for moisture vapor transmission. ASTM D 426(otherwise known as the “Mat Test”) involves taping an 1inch by 1inch polyethylene sheet to the concrete surface and leaving it for a minimum of 1hours. If after this time, moisture vapor droplets or condensation appear on the underside of the plastic sheet, then outgassing is occurring. Do not attempt to apply the epoxy coating if outgassing is happening. The solution may be as simple as waiting until late in the afternoon or night to apply the coating when the sun is not drawing the water vapor out of the concrete. If outgassing continues to occur even at night, the solution can be the same as that used to solve the second moisture-related problem, that of excessive moisture content as outlined below.
What to consider when choosing a remote control car
Either way more time spent playing with the car is better rather than being stationary whilst charging. Some models come with detachable batteries that allow to simply swap over to have a more continuous and enjoyable experience.

Buggy RC Cars
Buggy RC cars are primarily designed for use on off-road racing. They are based originally on their full-scale counterparts, which are found commonly on desert racing. Under buggy cars are two categories, 2WD (2-wheel drive) and 4WD (4-wheel drive). They can be visually distinguished by the size of the wheels used. Buggy cars are really popular these days because they offer a good combination of off-road and on-road capabilities. With this said, these buggies can typically reach up to high speeds, and still be expected to jump hills or gracefully go through dirt piles easily.
Truggy RC Cars
As you can guess from its name, a truggy car is a combination of a ‘truck’ and a ‘buggy’. This is pretty evident in its appearance. The wheels tell you that it has the looks of a truck, while the body itself has the appearance of a buggy. This interesting design makes this type of RC car a powerful option for use in competitions. Aside from its unique appearance and style, a truggy car is also built-in with highly competitive features that fit in with its looks.
If you want a little bit more ruggedness in your remote control vehicle, maybe it is time for you to step up from a car to an actual RC truck. This is preferred by those who would like to see something new out of remote control vehicles, and having a truck on the playing street is a great sight to see.
Speed & Range
There are generally two speeds that are associated with RC vehicles, actual speed and scale speed. For hobby-grade models, the standard speed is between and 70 mph. Some models may reach up to 100 mph, especially for modified RC cars. Range, on the other hand, refers to the actual distance in which the car can be operated from the remote control. You may want to take a look at it before actually purchasing a model.
Handling & Suspension
In getting an RC car, regardless of its type, it is very important to know some handling basics. This includes understanding some terms used in handling, such as understeering, oversteering, camber, caster, and several others. In order to get the most out of your RC car, you may want to learn a few things about suspension tuning. Most RC cars for sale come with several available tuning adjustments, allowing you to make your vehicle work at any type of track and surface.
Even before purchasing your own RC car, it is important to determine whether or not it is easy to maintain. This can help a lot depending on your own skills and experience. Standard models are easier to maintain compared to those of hobby level models. Electric cars are also relatively easy to maintain compared to nitro cars because there is no fuel engine system involved.

Considered by some as the world’s first home vaporizer, Volcano is arguably the most unit for vaping both concentrates and herbs by Sortz and Bickel, launched in the early 2000s. You might still see some of those old units kicking around. In 2007, they released the digital version that replaced the rotary dial with a big LED screen and two buttons. This vaporizer is as sturdy as a tank (because of the stainless steel and very high-quality plastic construction) and is ideal for medicinal use, let’s see how well built it is and how it performs.
While the major difference between the analog and digital version is the different interface, but the Volcano Digit also has an automatic shut-off feature as well as lets you vape as low as 104°F while the older one will not let you go below 266°F. Although this might not be a big deal for cannabis users, those who vape other herbs or essential oils such as BHO or Bubble Hash You can go as high as 446°F, but in my personal experience, you get the best vapor between 350°F and 380°F.
When it comes to performance, the desktop vape is solid as a brick and works like a horse. You can get huge plumes of vapor, the flavor is extremely smooth, and the flavor is also decent. Because of the terpenes – chemicals released by plants that cause smell and flavor – can condense in the bag if the vapor sights there for a while, the overall flavor can diminish as the time passes. However, we have never seen smoother flavor as produced by Volcano Digit. Therefore, it is ideal for people who use cannabis for medicinal use, as they do not get the harsh taste and yet get all the benefits.
The device is so amazing that we can write a book-long review on it. To sum it up, it offers immense reliability, great durability, fantastic vapor quality at little to no maintenance. The vape can be a great device for vaping in groups, despite the comparatively higher price tag, longer heat up time and the somewhat noisy air pump.
Vapor Cup Vaporizer
Vapor Cup Vaporizer is not a plugin desktop vaporizer, but its massive size brings it to the category of the table top vaporizer. It looks just like a coffee mug and can be used anywhere without fear of being castigated. Yes, there is an OLED display and three buttons, but you can cover it with a protective sleeve for the complete incognito mode. Made of metal and having a decent-sized footprint, the device is heavy and feels sturdy.
Vapor Cup Vaporizer comes with one plastic stem, one glass stem, one flexible rubber tube, and one traditional looking mouthpiece. We found that the glass stem produced the cleanest and coolest flavor. Depending on the straw you use, the mechanism to pack the herbs is slightly different. Also, using different temperature levels require a little know-how of vaporizers. So, there is a slight learning curve. Moreover, that is the only little moan we have against the Vapor Cup. Other than that, everything from vapor quality to build quality to fast heat-up time to 2-hour battery is commendable.
Silver Surfer Vaporizer
Once the best desktop vaporizer, Silver Surfer has fallen down the list by the new entrants, but it still can be the best pick depending on your vaping needs – especially if you are not a big fan of bag vaporizers. It is a whip-style desktop vape with a pretty ordinary design, but its performance is fairly commendable. It gets extra points for being a multi-purpose vape, as you can vape oils as well as waxes in addition to dry herbs.
Because of some of its unique features, the Vapolution Vaporizer is one of my favorite home vaporizers. First and foremost, it is the only desktop vaporizer that features a 100% glass air path – no other materials will come in contact with your vapor at all. What this means for you is clean, crisp, and smooth flavor. However, the list of unique features goes on, and it is one of the very few if not the only desktop vape that can accept herbs in bud form. Yes, you read that right, you do not have to grind the herbs at all and still can expect the same great flavor. This is an amazing feature that I have never seen elsewhere and – being a lazy soul – this is what seals the deal for me.
Da Buddha Vaporizer
The design of Da Buddha is simple yet elegant. It can be the ideal starting device, especially if you are switching from portables and buying your first desktop vape. Although offering intense heat of up to 380°F within no time, the aluminum coating keeps the outer body cold – though be careful touching the glass which can get hot as it is touching the heating element.
The only issue with Da Buddha is that you have to grind the herbs very fine, pack the wand with about quarter inch weed to get the best experience. Cleaning the vape is very easy, especially if you do it regularly. The overall unit is ideal in size and isn’t too heavy. All in all, the cons of the vape outweigh its pros, and it deserves a firm thumbs up.
Life Saber Vaporizer
Another masterpiece by 7th floor, the Light Saber Vaporizer (LSV) is an interesting model. Just like the Plenty vaporizer, it is a handheld table top vaporizer that offers an insane amount of vapor and flavor from your botanicals.
The LSV has an all glass vapor path and ceramic heating chamber for crisp, clean vapor. Most other handheld desktop vaporizers have a small cord, which can be a pain in the neck, but the LSV’s feet power cable lets you roam around the room freely with your vape.
One of the very few downsides to the LSV is that it offers a little too much heat, plus there is no digital display. There is just an analog knob that lets you control the temperature and setting it too high can result in combustion of the herbs. The device is very simple, easy to use, and easy to clean, and also the price is not that bad. The vapor quality is good, and the device is virtually unbreakable.
Forced Air Vaporizers or Balloon Vaporizers
These are the more common, more expensive, and more advanced type of desktop vaporizers. They utilize a fan that propels extremely hot air through the herbs. A balloon bag then collects vaporized herb vapor.
Some new desktop vaporizers below air directly into a whip attachment instead of the balloon bag, and let you inhale the vapor directly. These are called dual-function forced air vaporizers as they also contain a balloon bag. These vaporizers result in a perfect vapor stream which can be either inhaled directly through the whip or collected in a balloon bag.
Despite being the more expensive type, the balloon desktop vaporizers are becoming increasingly popular because of their vapor quality and ease of use. While most whip vaporizers offer a quick and simple way of vaping your herbs, however, they cannot match the vapor quality or quantity produced by their more advanced and Powerful counterparts i.e. forced air vapes.
If you haven’t heard of GT Academy it’s an ambitious project to take the best drivers from GranTurismo’s online community, put them in real cars, test their skills then put them in real race events.
Surprisingly though, the project has gone on to great success after starting way back in ‘0Drivers who have graduated from the program have gone on to race in 2Hours of Le Mans, FIA GT Series and the FIA World Endurance Championship.
First of all thanks for reading my article to the end! I hope you find my reviews listed here useful and that it allows you to make a proper comparison of what is best to fit your needs and budget. Don’t be afraid to try more than one product if your first pick doesn’t do the trick.
